Complimentary Eyeshadows~ By senior artist Chloe

It’s one thing to perfect your glowy/dewy skin or sculpting your face with contour, but mastering an eye look can be especially tricky. More specifically, understanding how to choose eyeshadow colors that bring out your eyes and complement your overall complexion.

Our Senior Makeup Artist Chloe recommends the following tones and colours to complement your eye colour:

Blue Eyes:

Blue eyes are such a striking eye colour and with some clever colour theory enhancing them is effortless. Think warm, anything warm toned on blue eyes is going to make your eye colour a feature. Rich terracotta’s, honey beige, salmon pinks and peachy golds are some great examples of colour tones that will work. A particular favourite trick I love doing is adding a warm brown or gold eyeliner in the waterline of the eye, the contrast against the blue immediately makes eye colour pop and adds an effortless soft sultry look suitable for all occasions.

Green Eyes:

I adore playing with green eyes because there are two ways you can go with colour tones to flatter and enhance the green. Red is greens complementary colour but majority of people aren’t looking to be wearing a red eyeshadow. No complaints here if you do, I love a strong eye look and red can look amazing on the eyes, but for those wanting soft or red carpet glam you can use coppery tones or you can use plum and mauve tones. Both have elements of red that enhance the green but give a different look.

Brown Eyes:

Brown eyes complimentary colour is navy blue and for a more dramatic look, a navy Smokey eye is a standout look. The use of black eyeliner in the waterline with neutral brown tones on the eyes is a fantastic method to accentuate the brown eye colour. But both these methods are a stronger look. For a softer glam, you can’t go wrong with rose golds and earthy deep golds.
