Body Waxing FAQ’s

WHY WAX?

Waxing is one of the best ways to temporarily remove unwanted hair. It is more effective than shaving because it removes hair from the roots, not just from the skin’s surface. Over time, hair in waxed areas regrows lighter and more sparse, or not at all.
Even fine hair shadows the face, distorting and aging your features.

DOES BODY WAXING CAUSE HAIR TO RE-GROW THICKER?

No. This is a complete myth. Waxing, in fact, is know to actually stop hair growth all together in some cases. It is important to keep in mind though that waxing should be used as a temporary hair removal method as the slowing or stopping of hair growth takes many years of consistent waxing.

WHO SHOULD NOT BE WAXED?

  • Anyone currently taking Accutane or who has taken Accutane at any time within the past 6 months.

  • Anyone who has an active Herpes outbreak

  • Anyone with a sunburn on the area to be treated

  • Anyone who has had a chemical peel over the treatment within the past 7 days

  • Anyone who has used any type of Retinol within the past 36 hours over the treatment area

  • Any area of the skin showing signs of trauma, varicose veins, open or active acne lesions, eczema, psoriasis or any type of dermatitis will not be waxed

WHAT AFTERCARE DO I NEED TO FOLLOW AFTER BODY WAXING?

After body waxing, avoid heat (hot baths, saunas, direct sunlight) and activities that cause sweating for 24-48 hours. Moisturize with a gentle, fragrance-free lotion, and after 48 hours, gently exfoliate to prevent ingrown hairs. Wear loose clothing to avoid irritation and refrain from touching the waxed area. Avoid scented products and swimming for the first 24 hours. If irritation persists, apply aloe vera or a soothing cream to calm the skin.

CAN I GET THE BODY WAXING DONE IF I’M PREGNANT OR BREASTFEEDING?

Yes, you can get body waxing done while pregnant or breastfeeding. However, keep in mind that your skin might be more sensitive due to hormonal changes, which could make waxing feel slightly more uncomfortable. It's always a good idea to let your therapist know you're pregnant or breastfeeding so they can adjust the treatment if needed.

HOW FREQUENTLY CAN I GET BODY WAXING?

Body waxing can typically be done every 4 to 6 weeks, depending on your hair growth cycle. It's best to wait until the hair is at least 1/4 inch long to ensure effective waxing. Regular waxing can lead to finer and slower hair regrowth, allowing you to space out appointments over time. If you're unsure about timing, your therapist can recommend the best schedule based on your needs.
