Harper’s Bazaar, you say the nicest things (again).

In case you haven’t picked up a copy of Harper’s Bazaar lately, we’re delighted to inform you that they’ve generously showcased us not once but twice in the last three months. (And yes, we’re still blushing.)

Hailing Holly Garvey Salon in their October edition as the leaders in the beauty education and make-up artistry industry nationwide, they graciously described our brand-new Leederville premises as “...unlike anywhere else in the WA capital.”

We have to say, we’re still pinching ourselves over our move to our luxe new location— a place where we can finally give all of you the treatments you want and deserve in an environment as stylish as it is opulent.

Replete with jarrah floors, high ceilings and contemporary high-shine finishes, there’s oodles of space for all our services, from spray tans and make-up to brow stations — and an entire education space housing The Make-up Academy, where you can learn how to do your own make-up like a pro — even if you’ve never used make up before.

(NB: If you haven’t visited us already, we’d love to see you soon, but please note that bookings are chockablock, so you may need to book appointments a couple of weeks in advance.)

But back to Harper’s Bazaar. Fast forward to the December edition, and Harper’s beauty director, Emily Taylor, had plenty more to enthuse about Holly and her industry-leading pro tips.

In a gorgeous spread titled “The Most Beautiful Time of the Year”, she highlighted Holly’s best-kept secrets and described her as “the industry expert for achieving and maintaining that party-ready glow for every date in your diary over the festive season.”

If you’re keen on the lowdown, here are some of Holly’s most lauded, hot-off-the-press tips.

Best prep advice? “For the party season, start by booking regular lash and brow maintenance. This will encourage healthy hair growth and help your beautician to design your desired style and shape.”

Confidence booster? Spray tans are always a winner. Note a lighter, more natural finish is being requested this season as we move to a more sun-safe aesthetic.

For silky smooth skin and the best mileage from your spray tan, Holly suggests the following: “I like regular body exfoliations to prepare for a weekly Spray Aus Tan, and I love mixing body oils with highlighting creams for my shoulders and legs — it gives skin the most hydrated look and is perfect for events”, she adds.

Home maintenance tips: Keep a “fuss-free” gradual tanner on hand, such as Spray Aus Tan Extender, $30, which will give you a beautiful boost of healthy radiance for those busy times when you can’t get to the salon.

Most recommended festive season services: Lip blush and lash lift. “Imagine your lips but even in colour and shape all the time — it’s exactly how a beauty service should enhance your look and save you time every single day,” Holly says of the semipermanent make-up treatment — one of the most popular in the studio. Meanwhile, a lash lift will give you a massive lift, literally —at an affordable price. Ideal for holiday glam, it’s one of those can’t live without essentials. Taylor described the look as “offering a fresher finish than heavy-handed extensions.”

Says Holly, “You can basically ditch the mascara for up to 8 weeks with this 45-minute service… even for the most stubborn and short lashes,” she enthuses.
