This Christmas, we’re again donating to RUAH community services to support women and children fleeing family domestic violence and those experiencing homelessness.
Donations are much appreciated and can be dropped off at the salon before 21/12/24 at 324 Oxford Street, Leederville.

Each year at Holly Garvey, we give a little love to a charity close to our hearts. This year, we’ve again chosen to support the increasing number of women and children fleeing domestic violence.
We’d love to think that such a cause was unnecessary, but sadly, it’s needed now more than ever.
Family and domestic violence (FDV) (which includes coercive control) has reached alarming crisis levels in Australia. The year’s not over, yet we’ve already lost 74 women to FDV — that’s approximately one death every five days.
It’s a harrowing situation that’s now endemic — in fact, one in four women has experienced violence during the 2021- 22 financial year, according to the ABS.
Not only that but here lies another disturbing problem: 45% of all women and girls seeking homelessness assistance say that family domestic violence is the cause. And approximately 20,000 women said lack of money or financial support was the main reason they were unable to leave their violent partner.
We need to end violence against women. Until that happens, we need safe places for women.
Enter: The Angela Wright Bennett Centre. A state-of-the-art, seven-story, purpose-built facility, the centre is home to Ruah’s Karlup Service – the first service of its kind in Australia, dedicated to offering comprehensive recovery and healing support for women and their children affected by FDV.
